Chemist, Commodity Management at Graincorp OilsPresenter Bio
Anyone who’s in the ANZ tallow industry will most likely have heard of Anne Watling. Anne’s first exposure to fats and oils was testing tallow for pesticides during the many pesticide crises in the mid ‘90’s. She began her current role in 1998 under the Gardner Smith banner and has since held the position of Quality Control Chemist for what we know today as Graincorp – Oils division.
Anne’s role has been varied consisting of quality testing, vessel planning, and an involvement in ARA and NZRG workshops. Anne has always had a passion for supplier training and education and effecting quality improvements through these avenues.
One of her most instrumental achievements has been playing a large part in polyethylene reduction amongst Australian tallow suppliers. Due to Anne’s extensive length of service she has also been a part of the tallow market transition from the former days of soap manufacturers right through to the current market of biofuel producers. Her passion in the industry has been focused on quality improvements as well as internal and external training.
When Anne is not up to her eyeballs in tallow testing she enjoys yoga, music, and is an avid animal lover. She also enjoys travel to New Zealand for both work and pleasure.
