Director at Rendering ByProducts AustraliaPresenter Bio
After completing his apprenticeship as a vehicle technician in central NSW in early 1984, Mark headed to the Northern Territory where he started work at Point Stuart Abattoirs on their four-wheel drive buffalo catchers. With the domestication of the territory buffalo herd and industrial action, this unique top end business folded where he found himself falling back on his trade and working out of Darwin.
As his four-year love affair with the top end came to a close in 1988, Mark found his way to Fletcher International Exports facility in Dubbo NSW. Tasked with operating the new rendering facility his first engagement began with hands on experience at the old Mudgee Abattoirs.
The experience he has today in the rendering industry can be best attributed to Roger Fletcher's guidance, mentoring and philosophies; one that resonates well is – ‘son, no old ideas here!, I’ll give you all the help you need in house, but NO outside old ideas, we teach ourselves’.
With the Fletcher Group expansion into WA in 1998, Mark was thrilled to be asked to be part of the new green field site incorporating a new state of the art abattoir and rendering plant. His excitement with the incorporation of PLC control to streamline the rendering process and help with operator time management still drives him for perfection in our industry today.
After a long seventeen year association with the Fletcher Group, an opportunity presented itself to team up with Keith Engineering Australia. Over ten years in this role, which saw him as the operations adviser, focusing on equipment sales, plant design, equipment commissioning, operator training and plant audits, he now shares this knowledge through his own private company Rendering By-Products Australia.
